Drupal meet-up in Boulder covers developing and theming Drupal 6

Drupal

Last night at the DBUG meet-up in Boulder at pingVision, John Fiala did an enlightening overview of the basic changes Drupal developers encounter in working with Drupal 6. Coming off of upgrading Node Carousel and Node Queue, as well as the ongoing development of a client site that includes some new modular functionality (a topic for another time), John offered some nice pointers from fresh experience.

Then Al Steffen talked a bit about theming for Drupal 6, and how he's incorporated some changes into the semantic Hunchbaque theme.

Turnout was pretty good for a night with an incoming trademark springtime Colorado snowstorm. One developer came from Colorado Springs, some 2 hours' driving away. He said this was the first time he ever met anyone who worked with Drupal, or even knew the word "Drupal."

We started at 6:30. The pizza arrived at 6:45. When I left at 9:35pm, there were still quite a few people avidly engaged in a stand-up conversation about the general future of Drupal.

Attached are some snapshots.
